Jointing Plaster

Fast-setting gypsum compound for filling joints, covering screws and repairing cracks in drywall systems. Metajoint and Siniat — in stock at our Edenvale warehouse.

Our Jointing Plaster Range

Jointing plaster is the first step after boarding — it fills the joints between boards, covers screw heads and embeds fibreglass mesh tape to create a seamless, crack-free surface. Without proper jointing, even the best skim coat will crack. We stock Siniat Jointing Plaster and Metajoint in 20kg bags, with Metajoint also available in 10kg for smaller jobs.

Drywall jointing in progress

Jointing plaster is a fast-setting gypsum compound specifically formulated for filling the joints, cracks and rough surfaces in plasterboard systems. Applied over fibreglass mesh tape embedded across board joints, it creates a monolithic surface that prevents cracking at the joints once skimmed and painted. Short setting times accelerate on-site work — once dry, it sands down to an ultra-smooth, tough finish. We stock Siniat Jointing Plaster and Metajoint, both trusted by drywall contractors across Gauteng.

Rapid Setting

Short set times mean you can apply multiple coats faster — quicker taping and finishing on both residential and commercial projects.

Crack-Free Joints

Used with fibreglass mesh tape, it creates a reinforced joint that resists cracking from building movement and temperature cycles.

Sands Smooth

Once dry, sands easily to an ultra-smooth, flush finish — screw heads and joints disappear completely under skim and paint.

Easy Application

Applies smoothly with a standard jointing knife or trowel — minimal waste and easy to work on both walls and ceilings.

What is jointing plaster used for?
It fills the joints between gypsum boards, covers screw heads and embeds mesh tape — creating a smooth, crack-free surface ready for skimming or painting.
How much do I need for a standard 3m x 2.7m wall?
1 x 20kg bag covers all joints and screws on both sides of a single standard partition. For larger areas, bring your dimensions and we’ll calculate.
What tape should I use?
Fibreglass self-adhesive mesh tape — it is quick and easy to apply, sticks directly to the board, and provides strong reinforcement across the joint before jointing compound is applied.
Do I need to prime the board before jointing?
Not the full board surface, but prime raw cut board edges with bonding liquid to prevent the dry edge from pulling moisture out of the compound too quickly and causing bubbling.
What is the difference between jointing plaster and skimming plaster?
Jointing plaster is thicker and faster-setting — used to fill joints and cover screws. Skimming plaster is finer and smoother — used to coat the full surface for a paint-ready finish. They are used in sequence, not interchangeably.
