Delivery & Logistics

Do you deliver?
Yes. We deliver throughout Gauteng, Pretoria and surrounding areas. For long-distance or out-of-area deliveries, we can arrange transport through our external logistics partners. Contact us to discuss your specific delivery requirements.
Do you offer after-hours deliveries?
Yes. We can schedule deliveries after hours. For shopping centres and high-traffic commercial sites, we deliver after closing time — ensuring your materials are on-site when you need them, fully compliant with centre rules and without disruption to trading.
How far in advance should I book a delivery?
For standard Gauteng deliveries, we typically need 24–48 hours notice. For after-hours or shopping centre deliveries, please give us as much notice as possible to ensure we can schedule the run correctly. Call us on 011 974 0513 to arrange.
Can I collect from your warehouse?
Yes — collection from our Edenvale warehouse is available during normal trading hours. Our team will assist with loading. Please ensure your vehicle is suitable for the load you are collecting.

Quantities & Calculations

Can you calculate exactly how much material I need?
Yes — and this is one of our most popular services. Bring your measurements or drawings and we’ll calculate every board, stud, screw and bag of plaster for your project. Accurately, at no charge, with no obligation to buy.
How many gypsum boards do I need for my ceiling?
Divide your ceiling area (in m²) by 3.6 (the area of a standard 3.0m×1.2m board) and add 10% for cuts and waste. For example, a 30m² ceiling needs approximately 9 boards. Bring your dimensions to us and we’ll do the full calculation at no charge.
How much plaster do I need?
For joints only: 1 × 20kg bag covers approximately 10–15 lineal metres of joints. For a full skim coat over boards (two coats): 1 × 40kg bag covers approximately 10–12m². Bring your room dimensions to us for an accurate calculation.
How many ceiling tiles do I need?
For 600×600mm tiles: divide your ceiling area by 0.36 and add 10%. For 1200×600mm tiles: divide by 0.72 and add 10%. A 6m×6m room needs approximately 110 × 600mm tiles or 55 × 1200mm tiles.
How do I calculate how many steel studs I need?
Studs are typically installed at 600mm centres. Divide the wall length by 0.6 and add 1 for each end. Add extra studs for door frames and corners. For tracks: you need 2 tracks per lineal metre of wall (floor and ceiling). Again, bring your measurements to us — we’ll do the full take-off at no charge.

Board Questions

What is the difference between 12mm and 15mm board?
The 12mm board is the standard option for internal walls. The 15mm board provides greater strength, better sound insulation, and higher fire resistance — making it the correct choice for multi-storey buildings, hotels, hospitals and areas requiring extended fire ratings.
Can I use standard gypsum board in a bathroom?
No. In bathrooms, showers, kitchens and laundries you must use our 12mm Moisture Board (green liner). Standard board will absorb moisture, swell, and eventually collapse or develop mould in wet environments.
What makes fire board different from standard board?
Fire board has a denser gypsum core reinforced with glass fibres. This allows it to maintain structural integrity longer under fire conditions — slowing flame propagation and heat transfer. It is identified by a pink paper liner. Standard board has no fire rating.
Can I use 6mm board on walls?
No. The 6mm board is designed for curved ceilings and lightweight ceiling applications only. For walls, use 12mm or 15mm board.
What screws should I use for gypsum board?
Use 25mm fine-thread drywall screws for steel studs, or 32mm coarse-thread screws for timber framing. Fix at 200–300mm centres. Screws should be driven just below the surface without breaking the paper liner.

Ceiling Questions

What is the difference between T38 and T37 grid?
The T38 is a suspended grid system where the grid is visible — tiles drop in from above and the grid lines show as a pattern. The T37 is a concealed system where gypsum boards are screwed to the grid and the grid is completely hidden — the finished ceiling looks flush and plastered with no visible grid lines.
Can I access services above a T38 ceiling?
Yes — that is one of the key advantages of a T38 system. Individual tiles can be lifted out at any time for access to electrical, plumbing and HVAC services above, without damaging the ceiling.
Which ceiling system is better for a home?
For upmarket residential ceilings with a plastered finish, the T37 screw-up system with 9mm gypsum board is the preferred choice. For areas where you want service access or a more commercial look, the T38 system with acoustic or vinyl tiles works well.
Can vinyl clad tiles be used in a bathroom?
Yes — vinyl clad tiles are moisture-resistant and easy to wipe clean, making them suitable for bathrooms, kitchens and laundries. Do not use acoustic mineral fibre tiles in wet areas as they will absorb moisture and sag.

Insulation Questions

What thickness of ceiling insulation do I need?
For Gauteng, we recommend a minimum of 75mm (R-value 1.96) for standard residential ceilings. For maximum performance, 100mm or 135mm is ideal. SANS National Building Regulations require a minimum R-value of 1.97 for the Gauteng climate zone. Our team can advise on the correct specification for your project.
Is insulation difficult to install?
Ceiling insulation is very DIY-friendly — simply unroll and lay between joists. Wear gloves and a dust mask. Do not compress the insulation as this reduces its R-value. Cavity batts for drywall walls are equally simple: friction-fit between studs before boarding.
Will insulation reduce noise between rooms?
Yes — significantly. Cavity batts in drywall partitions can reduce noise transfer by 50% or more when combined with double-boarded walls. Ceiling insulation also reduces sound transmission from above. It is one of the most cost-effective acoustic improvements you can make.

Aluminium Questions

Do you cut aluminium to size in-store?
Yes. We cut aluminium extrusions, glazing profiles and doorframes to your exact measurements in-store, same day. Just bring your dimensions and we’ll cut while you wait — no third parties, no delays.
Do I need to book ahead for aluminium cutting?
No booking required for standard cuts. For large orders or specialist profiles, calling ahead is recommended to ensure the right stock is available.
Do you stock corner beads and finishing trims?
Yes — we carry metal and plastic corner beads, J-trims, L-trims, shadowline beads and all standard finishing profiles for drywall and ceiling installations.
