Insulation

Thermal and acoustic insulation for ceiling voids and drywall cavities. Keeps interiors cool in summer, warm in winter, and reduces noise transfer between rooms — 100% recyclable and SANS compliant.

Comfort. Quiet.
Lower Energy Bills.

Insulation is one of the most cost-effective improvements you can make to any building. Without it, up to 40% of a home’s heat is lost through the ceiling in winter, and gained through the ceiling in summer. The right insulation creates a thermal barrier that significantly reduces the load on heating and cooling systems, cutting energy costs year-round.

Beyond thermal performance, insulation also provides acoustic dampening — reducing the transfer of noise between rooms and from external sources. This is particularly valuable in bedrooms, home offices, boardrooms and multi-unit residential buildings.

All insulation we stock meets SANS National Building Regulations requirements. Our team can advise on the correct R-value and thickness for your specific application.

Ceiling insulation rolls

Ceiling insulation is a roll-out product placed between ceiling joists or above suspended ceilings to create a thermal and acoustic barrier in the roof void. Non-toxic, 100% recyclable, and available in five thicknesses from 40mm to 135mm, it is suitable for both new builds and retrofits. R-values range from 1.15 to 3.14 depending on thickness selected.

Year-Round Savings

Keeps interiors cool in summer and warm in winter — reducing electricity consumption from air conditioning and heating.

Maintenance Free

Retains its loft, is water-resistant, and pest-proof — no maintenance required once installed.

DIY Friendly

Simply roll out between ceiling joists and push snug against the ceiling board. No specialist tools or skills required.

SANS Compliant

Meets SANS National Building Regulations for thermal efficiency in all climate zones of South Africa.

How much insulation do I need for a 3m × 3m room?
9–10m² of insulation (add 10% for overlaps). Bring your floor area to us and we’ll calculate the exact requirement.
Can I install it myself?
Yes — ceiling insulation is designed for DIY installation. Simply roll it out between joists and push it snug against the ceiling board. Wear gloves and a dust mask during installation.
Will the insulation make my ceiling sag?
No — ceiling insulation is very lightweight (8–14kg/m³). Do not compress it during installation as this reduces its thermal performance.

Knauf drywall cavity batts

Drywall cavity batts are semi-rigid acoustic and thermal insulation panels cut to fit precisely between steel studs in drywall partition systems. Available in 51mm, 63mm and 102mm to match standard stud profiles, they friction-fit between studs without the need for staples or adhesive, making installation fast and clean. The primary function is acoustic dampening — significantly reducing noise transfer between rooms.

Superior Acoustics

Can cut noise transfer between rooms by 50% or more. Essential for bedrooms, home offices, boardrooms and home theatres.

Friction-Fit

Cuts to size and fits snugly between studs without staples or adhesive — fast and clean to install.

Matches Stud Profiles

Sized to match 51mm, 63mm and 102mm stud profiles for a perfect cavity fill without compression.

Thermal Benefit

Also provides thermal insulation between rooms — particularly valuable in external walls and against garage walls.

How much does it reduce noise?
With cavity batts in the stud cavity and double-boarded partitions, noise reduction of 50% or more is achievable. Even a single-boarded partition with batts significantly outperforms an empty-cavity wall.
Will it settle or compress over time?
No — high-density batts maintain their shape and performance for years when installed correctly without being over-compressed.
Can I install it myself?
Yes. Friction-fit between studs (no staples needed), push flush against the back board, then board over. Wear gloves and a dust mask during installation.
